Question

Does it mean I'm an old lady that I am staunchly rejecting the popped-collar-on-Polo-shirts resurgence?

While it isn't exactly new, I feel like kids look less stupid these days. Maybe it's just me.

A popped collar is generally one of the top 10 signs of douchebaggery.

I'm with ATG, you were a douche if you did it in the 80's and you're a douche now if you do it. Russ "feels" like the kids look less stupid these days because back then it was just the jocks and richies doing it and now it's the alt.liberal.richie.fashionsmart douches doing it. In other words kids that remind him more of him.

Yes, it still looks stupid, and you are not an old lady.

I noticed an abundance of those collars at the last few concerts I attended, and laughed and laughed. I wonder if they think they discovered it, or if they saw it in an old movie and thought it looked cool?

I had to wikipedia "popped-collar" to supplement my lack of fashion knowledge. It turns out I am sometimes trendy because I'm not always aware of what my collar is doing in the back. Next, I'm going to wiki to see if leaving your fly unzipped is trendy.

Guess I'm a douche. I occassionally pop my collar. And I don't care.

I like the look. But if you are an old lady for rejecting it, am I borderline pedophile for thinking it's kind of hot? -Steph

I actually saw a couple of girls that had the popped collar look and thought they looked nice. On the other hand, the guys that I have seen wearing them DO look like dbags and I'm reminded of Pretty in Pink or Less Than Zero for some reason. . . or pretty much any movie from the 80s starring Andrew McCartney.

UP, you're not a douche! I thik maybe I'm not in style. Just like usual.

I think maybe I do like it better on girls than on guys. On guys...man. I do not like it at all. I tried for 20 years to get my dad to stop doing it and now it's how the kids are wearing it again. Dammit!

I love Andrew McCarthy. He was the only Brat Packer with talent, dammit. Not to discount the Mighty Duck series.

I dunno -- as long as Member's Only jackets don't ever rise above the ironic and kitschy it's all good.

Russ, you are a man after my own heart. I love The Mighty Ducks series an inordinate amount. Emilio forever.

Established thus far:
Girls w/ popped collar: Acceptable.
Guys w/ popped collar: Throw rocks at me.

It just proves that there are no new ideas in clothing. Definitely throw rocks at those guys. And give them a copy of Pretty in Pink.

Popped collars= 1980s preppie
Low-waisted jeans=1970 hip huggers
Capris=1950s-60s pedal pushers

It's all shit. Now, I'm just wondering what's next? Thin piano keys ties?

no way - it just means you are that much cooler :)

Oh shit I saw a decent looking guy with his collar like that the other day. I didn't know that this "syle" was coming back and I just kept staring at him trying to figure out what he was doing.

I thought maybe he got wet and was drying it off. I think that makes ME old.

Eeeeww what an ugly look.

I never got the whole Andrew McCarthy thing. He looks like he's eating really cold ice cream when he kisses. He's all tight-lipped. It ruined the end of Pretty in Pink for me.
